Williams upon the statj of the Waihi mine was not dated when published, and -masy people have expressed the desire to learn, when it was drafted. A statement on the subject was made on Tuesday to tho "Herald's" Waihi' correspondent, by Mr. C. -Rhodes,' local director and attorney, for the Waihi Gold Mining Company, who was interviewed at Waihi. He was asked, whether he would reply in any way to'tho criticism that had been made during the last few days regarding tho sudd'er. drop in the price of Wailii shares. Mr.. Rhodes . said he did not intend to make any reply to any criticism at all. but he' was quite willing to give, without any hesitation, the date on which tho report that had created oo much excitement, fas prepared. On December 12 the London • directors cabled out for .'a special report. As the English mail left on Decomber 14 the report was rushed through on that date, and was pent to England. "Since then," he said, "about six weeks have elapsed, during which the report had to go. by mail. to Losdon, and bo acted upon there by .the directors. This is surely -f-ideivro that thero was rio delay whatever." " Mr. Khodofi. was asked whether he was prepared to answer tho allegation that ; Rome pcodlq had had "insido information." I upon whi>h they had able to act. i but he absolutely declined. If tho Stock Exchange or other interested poople wished to criticiso their criticism must be sentto the London directors, and they would no doubt deal with them. He certainly would not.
