FEILDING NOTES.
. —.5 The whole of our-country is as dry as a bone, and as brown as a Wellington roof: liain is very badly needed around the Waituna and Beaconsfield district, the long-continued dry weatiier making things look rather serious. Water is becoming very scarce, and settlers are constantly carting from Kiwitea. Everywhere dairy farmers are discussing the diminishing supply of milk. Mr. Grice's experiment crop of maize at Waituna West has turned out exceedingly well, and now that the pastures have become so dried up, ho finds it an excellent fodder for milking cows.
From all quarters of tho large dairying district , surrounding Feilding comes the tale of dried-up pastures, and want of water.
