The Pabiatua licensed Victuallers have, forwarded to tho"secretary of the Horticultural Society a donation of a guinea towards the prizo fund at its coming show. They also forwarded' a similar amount to the A. and P. Association, and likewise to tho l'ahmtiia ,A> and P. Association. ■Ths returns of tho valuation of thfl. Oddfellows , Lodge havo been -received. The amount of tho surplus available for distribution will give a bonus of ■£? 10s. to each member for each 3'eai' of membership between 1901 arid Wo9i This will bo in addition to the bonuses declared at the former distribution of surpluses. The firo brigade, having had a number of trophies prosentod, and also a gold medal by Mr.-'H. P. Horno for competi-. tioi), a number, of cvent9 wore/run oft last week, arid were well contested. Fireman N. E. Grinliuton outclassed all others, gaining first prize in three events, and winning the gold' medal. GREYTOWN, Mr. V. Roberts,.onr postmaster, is retiring from the service on pension. He will tako three months'-leave first. Mr.. G. S. The oat crops this year, with slight exceptions, for about threa and a half miles from Feilding, on the road to Halcomhc, are full, and, in most cases, farmers report them to be as heavy at Sandon. The famous grass seed area .is also good oat land, and some crops are expected to run up to 50 bushels. Mr. ,T. R.
