Tho- annual- meeting of the Wellington Trust,. Loan, and, Investment Society was held last evening in the Chamber of Comirisree room. .Mr. J. P..Maxwell, M.I.C.E. (chairman of directors) presided. Tho annual report (tha thirty-eighth) has already , be;n published with the balancoshoet. .They stowed the sum to the credit ci'profit and- loss, £11,369 75. : 9d., together with £1466 2s. Ud. brought. forward from tbo previous year, amounted-to £12,835 10s. Bd., from whjch £fflSo had already been paid as an interim dividend. In moving tho adoption of tho report and balance-sheet,' the chairman said it would be observed that tho volumo of business for tho year'had improved on tho proviouß year, and had resumed, in - some measure, 'the state of things in previous year*. Tho profits and volumo of business wero larger than the previous year, and although they were not up to the most favourable years, still they were very good indeed when all tho circumstances and changes-we had been through, the Government competition, and the disturbance in values, wcro taken into consideration.' .- They were carrying £3000 to reserve and £1735 10s.' 10d. was beinp; carried forward. He moved the adoption of tho report and balance-sheet,, and tho. payment of a dividend of £4050 (malting. 8 per cent, for the year) on and after February 19.

■ Mr. J. A. Plimnier,seconded,the motion. —Carried. The Eon. Sir J. Prendergaat and Mr. J. A. Plimmor wore re-elected directors. Mr. G. M. Kcbbell moved that a. further sum of £37 10s. be paid to tho directors in addition to the sura nf £262 10s. per annum already paid. This made a •sum of f3OO between seven directors. At the same time, ho said, seven director* may b'o thought too many with the chairman. If they could see thi>ir way to save £50 by the reduction of one it might he as well. (Hear, hear.) ' ...... ...
