COMMANDANT'S TOUR SOUTH.
THE LYTTELTON FOETS. (By TelesraDli-Press Association.) Christchurch, January 31. Major-Gcneral Godley went to Lyttel* ton and paid a. visit of inspection to the harbour defence;. The general aud party landed at Godley Eead, and went to the summit of the hill, where they inspected the sits for a fort suggested by Lord Kitchener. Afterwards the party visited Fort Jervois and inspected the guns. This afternoon Major-Gcmeral Godley held a conference in tho King Edward Barracks with the chief scoutmaster. He left for Wellington to-night.
