GIPSY SMITH'S VISIT TO BIRMINGHAM.
The. mission-arranged-by, the. Birmingham and ,District_-Krc.o Church Council, and-conducted by Gipsy Smith, was in every.way a great success, ine Curzo'n Hall, seating - over three thousand pcoplo, was filled every night, and hundreds were turned away, l'rom the first it was evident that the missioner " was in - good form,' it... not phvsically, in every.other way.;rlis enforced rest has been of incalculable good-to him, and the- great audiences ho addressed undoubtedly felt tho power of his personality.; Night bysnifflit tho inquirv-rooms wore' exceedingly busy, andoiitwoor three occasions they were crowded. One of tho outstanding features of tho. mission was the Boys Ni"ht'the hall being crowded with boys drawn from Boys'. Brigades, Scouts, Peace Scouts, and elder boys irom oyer a hundred Sunday Schools. - Mr. Smith confessed that ho had never m his ex-' perienco faced suclv an audience. _It was a most impressivo sight. Splendid order' was- maintained, and-the. boyslistened intently to the .earnest .words addressed to them, A large number went into the inquiry-rooms; Another feature which should be mentioned was the -use of tickets of admission for nonchurch goers. These did what it. was hoped thev would do, viz.-, bring in a largo number of tho-pcoplo it was desired to reach. The total number .of decision cards filled up was eleven hundred and sixty-seven. • These were sent out on alternate days to tho churches named on them, over a hundred Free Churches and more than sixty churches belonging to the Establishment being communicated with.
