It-will, of course, have a wholesomo effect upon the pastures. A line of 3000 crossbred ewes is being railed from the Wairarapa for Waikato m a few days. A successful snorts meeting was held' at Bideford to-day. There was- a large gathering of country settlers. ' ' • A sensational report was published today that ono of fir. J. C. Ewington's motor-cavs had fallen over..an..embankment, on the Rimutaka yesterday, and that tho driver had had a' miraculous escape..' Mr. Kwington, however, states that. ho had no .car on. the. Rimutaka/ and that, conseciuently, : r.there-, could •bo no accident. ■■;..-.• An intewstiiig case-was beard ,in ."the" Sfagistrat'e's ' Court to-day, when"'.' Jo's. Worth, labourer, claimed from' Harold Willdughby, settler, a sum of t'Or iiijuriiis sustained through being knocked down by a bicycle ridden by defendant. The evidence, Which was very conflicting, alleged that plaintilf sustained a fall which caused a fracture of the arm, pre-' sumably by colliding with defendant, who, it was stated, was riding on tho footpath. Mr. Keid, S.M., gave'judgment for plaintiff for .£43 Bs. Notice of appeal was given.;
