BORING OUR BIG HILL.
ONE OF THE TUNNELS. 'A well-attended and- enthusiastic meeting of the representatives of tho Hataitai district met last evening in the Bowling Club_ pavilion, when tho report of the City Engineer regarding the construction: of the new turinelvto pierce the hill in the vicinity of Sussex Square was criticised. The meeting unanimously agreed that such' a tunnel'would be little or no uso ■to the residents north of the point mentioned, whereas if one were constructed lin proximity to the, present tunnel, as suggested by tho Mayor (Mr. Wilford), ■it would servo all the districts lying to the south of Hataitai. ■ It'was, finally decided that- the residents form a deputation to wait on the City' Council at its meeting on Thursday next, when the report of tho engineer will come up for discussion. During the evening a large number of residonts were elected members of tho organisation. Mr. A. Leo Hunt was in.'tho chair at the meeting.
