END OF A BIG CONTRACTS With the end of the construction ot the Solomon Knob Dam in sight, the City Engineer (Mr. W. H. Morton) will soon be relieved of his' periodical -visits of inspection to the big works at Wainui, which havo required very close attention for months past. The men who are engaged in finishing off the concrete work at tho dam expected to have the task completed by to-day, but the heavy rain of yesterday will doubtless Have delayed t'heffi. As soon as the concrete hardens, Mr. Morton intends to fill the. reservoir up. -He hopes to have the dam full in two weeks from date. When this satisfactory position is reached it is-anticipated that an official inspection of tho works will be made by the members of tho City Council.
