Y.M.C.A.

Last evening a social was held in the boys' department of the Y.M.C.A. as a house-warmer for tlie year 1911. A very interesting exhibition of tricks was given by Mr. Duff. Pianoforte solos were rendered by Messrs. Wiri Baker and Foster (of Christchurch). The now committee was announced for tho year. Tho president welcomed those present with a few encouraging remarks as to tho future of tho° boys' department. Prior to supper the boys' work director placcd before the boys his plans for-tho coming season. lie stated that tho boys must work as one body and then things would go nil < right. The shooting range will bo opened next week. Bible classes and competitions will commenco without delay. About 55 boys wero present, which was remarkably good in view of tho bad weather prevailing.
