•Wedding at St. Petsr's. •- : -; .- A largo gathering'of friends assoin'bled.at St. Peter's Church on Wednesday afternoon to witness the marriage: of Miss Clara Louisa King, only daughter of the late Mr. Edwin J. King, to .Mr. Wm. Inmau Davis, of . Raetihi; Archdeacon Harper officiated. The bride worowhite muslin, with insertions of Valenciennes lace, and satin belt, wreath and orange blossoms. Misses Rcdforth (Brooklyn) and Mavis King ' (niece) attended her, and were dressed in pink taffeta and pink silk, with hats to match. Mr. Hector' Davis, brother of the bridegroom, was best man, and Master Arthur Baldwinson (Brooklyn) groomsman. Mr. Len T. King gave the bride away. Mrs. E. J. King .(mother of the bride), Mrs. L. lung, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. King and family, Mr.; Frank Crowthef. (cousin.of the bride) w'ero' also I present. Afterwards _ at t Gpdber's a '■ pleasant'afternoon' tea gathering was held. Mr. C. M, Blake (god-brother to the' bride) presided. The bride, .'and bridegroom responded to the principal toast, and Mrs. Hugh Forrestt proposed the health of tho, bride's mother. Messrs. 0. Wood, J. Garrv, F. Crowther, L. T. King, CM. Blake, and Mr. Ted King gave musical items, and Miss Milly OjNoil a capital recitation. Mr. and Mrs. Davis leave for Ractihi in a few days. ■'The' presents were useful and numerous. Wedding at Creytown. A quiet wedding took place, at, the Methodist Church, Greytown, on Thursday,. when Miss Grace -.Evelyn Thomas, ' second daughter, \of'. Mr! M. Plimmcrton is being kept lively this sunimor by the doings of the "Eronora guests and their friends in residences and under canvas. On Saturday night ■a moonlight picnic was held on tho hillside overlooking the bay, and supper was cooked over a huge bonfire. Mr. Popo was fireman, and Mr. Stuckey chief cook. Tho picnic, which was very 'enjovable, was followed by an open-air concert. On Wednesday afternoon a kite-flying competition was,held. Tlio ingenuity of the party was" shown by the great variety of kites produced. The prettiest kite- was Miss Chalmers's "Bird," ad the best flier was Mr. Stuckey's "Paint." Mr. Noodham took second place. Many of the kites were very tastefully decorated, notably those entered by the Misses Chalmers, Miss Dora Pope, and Miss Naomi Stuckey.
Re-ostabllshing tho Y.V/.C.A. * A number of people attended tlio meeting of the i'.W.O.A. held in St.. John's schoolroom, yesterday afternoon, when the Guild of Helpers mot tho General Committee of the association. The helpers, tinder Mrs. do Castro, have already set to work to organise, an entertainment to help in tlie work of re-establishing' tho association in rooms of its own, and they submitted to tho. committeo.the programme which will be presented at the Town Hall on February 8. The .committee feel that special steps must be taken .to raise funds quickly, and with that end in view they have called a meeting for nest Thursday evening at S o'clock in the Assembly Room of the 'Y.M.C.A., when a number. of influential ' people will' speak on behalf of tlio Young Women's Association. Tho committee, find a very general sympathy and readiness to help.among the general public, and. they hope that there will be a largo'atteridalice on Thursday, and also that a "great rnany : hew subscribers, as well as old'oncs, will rally to their assistance. :'.
