A boot operative named Tom Goldsmith, residing in Grey Lynn, who met his creditors in the Official Assignee's office -to-day, had the unusual experience, after refusing to make an offer to his. creditors, of being presented with the balance of his assets, about £7, as a Christmas box."-''''Tho Official-'Assig-nee (Mr. D. Fisher).' in -opening tiio meeting, stated that the bankrupt estimated his liabilities to unsecured creditors at £10Q„&. Id., and'his assets, comprising furniture, had realised £40, leaving an apparent deficiency of £60. The bankrupt, when filing his petition, seemed prepared to make an offer, but said he,would consult his friends first, and it now appeared that he had decided against the proposal. Asked if that was so, the bankrupt replied in the affirmative, and inanswer to further questions,, stated that- when ehiployed he. earned. £2'l2s: per week: "He did not now have to. support his wife, and had no family.
