;By Teleerapb.-Special Correspondent.) Masterton, January 10. At to-night's meeting of tho Masterton Borough Council, the resignation of. Councillor Pauling, who is manager of the Masterton Blacksmith and "Wheelwright Manufacturing Company, which does work for the borough, tendered his resignation. The Mayor stated that the amendment of the Municipal Corporations Act, -which' compelled tho resignation of Councillor Pauling, - was a- farce, particularly as it was brought into operation-so-.close to the biennial elections. It was decided to place on record tho services rendered to the borough by Councillor Pauling during the six-years he has been £ member of the.council. It is thought that the new Act may>, affect the position of other councillors.
