The Mayor stated that the amendment of the Municipal Corporations Act, -which' compelled tho resignation of Councillor Pauling, - was a- farce, particularly as it was brought into operation-so-.close to the biennial elections. It was decided to place on record tho services rendered to the borough by Councillor Pauling during the six-years he has been £ member of the.council.
