A GREAT MISTAKE.

Sir Charles Tupper, ex-Prime Minister of Canada, in an''interview, declared that it was a great mistake on tho part of Canada to create its' own navy as a method of assisting the Motherland. He suggested as an alternative the construction of the most rapid steamers, so that in the event of hostilities they would form a fast service between Halifax (Nova Scotia) and Great Britain. The vessels should be built, with a view to being . converted into cruisers lrhioh would guard tho grain 'routes across the Atlantic.
