A great sensation has been caused >by a further desperate . fight between the police and a gang of Anarchists at Stepney. Tho police were'engaged in hunting down the remaining two men wanted in connection with the Houndsditch burglary outrage of December 18, in which three. constables were shot dead, and two others severely wounded. They had tracked the men down to a house in Stepney, occupied by an Anarchist Club, which they surrounded with a force of over a thousand men. The occupants opening fire, tho . police replied, a detachment of Scots Guards was called in,' and a long fight ensued. The end came when the building, from some unknown cause, caught fire, and was gutted. The dead bodies of six Anarchists were found in the ruins. Several firemen, police, military, and civilians were injured.
