FORECAST FOR NEXT ELECTION.
ANALYSIS OF AUCKLAND SEATS. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! Auckland, January 4. In a forecast of the probable candi« dates at the next general election th® "Star'' says: "In, Auckland City a good many candidates are likely to be forthcoming. For Auckland: Central the sitting member, Mr. A. E. Glover, will be opposed by Mr. P. J. Nerhefcy, president of the Liberal and Labour Federation. It is unlikely that the Reform party will offer any opposition to Mr. Glover, but both the Labour ana Socialist parties intend having candidates in the field.
"Sir. C. H. Poole, M.P. for City Wist* is to be opposed by a selected candidate, of the Reform' party. Messrs. W. J. Ralph, J. J. O'Brien, and C. J.'Parr are spoken jof as possible aspirants for the seat. Jlr.'r.G. J. Garland will in. all probability, be a. candidate for a city or suburban seat iu tho Opposition interests, and may be prevailed upon, to carry tho party's colours in the Auckland . East electorate against the sitting member, Mr. A. M. Myers. '
Parnell is likely to be, the scene oi a good fight, and possible candidates for this seat against the present member (Mr.' F. La wry) are Messrs. .J. S. Dickson and Chas. Bagley. The Hon. E, Mitchelson will, it is understood, be asked to .stand for Parnell as the Opposition candidate.. "For Marsden it is reported that the present representative, Sir. F. W. -Lang, will, be opposed by Mr. Alfred Kidd, late member for City Central. In the .Waikato, Mr. H. Greenslade will be opposed by Colonel Allen Bell, who put up. a good fight against the sitting .member last election. " On this occasion, Colonel Bell will stand as an Independent, and the Opposition will probably rnn Mr. R. Bollard, of Taupiri (a son of Mr. John Bollard, M.P.) as it? candidate.
"Te Kuiti is likely to be taken out of the Taumarunui electorate, and made the centre of a new electorate. . TIIO Mayor of Te Kuiti, Mr. John Boddie,'.willbe the Opposition candidale. If a new constituency is formed under the scheme of alteration of boundaries, it is possible that the Hon. T.. Mackenzie, Minister of •Agriculture (whoso seat in (he South Inland- is almost saro to be wiped out) may stand as. the Government enndidats for Te Kuiti. In the Thames electorate it is reported that Mr' E. H. Taylor, M.P., may be opposed bv another leverend 1 gentleman, I'astor Clark, who diaa taken"up' his residence in 'he district, and may be persuaded to enmo forth in the Opposition interest. Both the Labour party and the Socialist party expect to put up a candidate in the respective city and suburban electorates."
