ALLEGED EXCESSIVE SPEED. ;By Telr-graph.—Special Correspondent.! Christchurch, Jauuary 4. A passenger by the Midland railway from ■ the Cass on Tuesday night alleges that on one portion of the route the train was driven at an excessive :and a dangerous speed. Ho . was hot able to definitely indicate the part of the line, but:said that it was a part where there tire" many curves and cuttings. So severe was the oscillation that ladies were, thrown off the. seats, and articles'in ths rack fell on the floor. The,.oscillation was fcl,t. more in. the carriages at the; rear thjn in those ; in front. His impression was that on some.occasions the train was running solely on 4he wheels on one side. He estimated the speed at between, fifty and sixty miles an hour.
