The weather was fine, with a cool breeze blowing, for the third day's racing of the Auckland Racing Club's Summer meeting. There was a largo attendance. His Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington) was present. The sum of £23,114 was . put through the totalisator, as against £24,201 for the corresponding day of last year, in addition to which.4s-bookmakers were licensed. The following are the results. FERGUSON HANDICAP,' of 12H soys. Six furlongs. Mr. Andrew Mack's Scotch, by Soult— Vane, 7st. 21b (Conquest). 1 Mary Ann, 7st. 31b (Emmerson) ■' 2 Tipua, Gst. 91b (R. W. Brown) 3 Also started: Flying Soult, Arawa, Aristos, Captain Soult, Elegance, Vivace, , Honey, - Sphinx, La Reina, Weo Olga, Strathrose. At the distance Scotch dashed into the lead, while Mary Anu, Tipua, and Flying Soult all put in their claims, and a desperate race home resulted in Scotch lasting long enough to -win by throequarters of a length from Mary Ann, who was half a length in front of Tipua. After, the race the winner, Danube, was -led on to the lawn, where he was decorated with the ribbon attaching to the event by his Excellency the Governor (Lord Islington).
