BANE-BATES OF DISCOUNT. . The Bank of England rato has been lowered from 4$ . per cent.-to 3 per cent. On January ; 6 the bank rate .was reduced from 4i to' 4 per cent., on January -20 to '3i' peri cent., and on February 10 to' 3 per cent.,' was on March 17 raised again to 4 per ceut., but on June 9 lowered to 3 per cent.' On September 29 it wa6 again advancec to 4 per cent., and on Octobcr 20 to 5 per cent, But on December 1 it was lowered to 4s'per cent. The Bank of France rato was reduced from 3J to 3 per ceut. on January 23. 1908, and remains at tho latter figure.
