The Tasmariian contingent of field artillery wero accorded a civic welcome at the Council Chambers this morning, and the. Mayor, in extending tho welcome, to them, expressed tho hopo that their visit would be tho precursor of many others. Staff ■ Sergeant-Major Forrest, who is : in charge of tho Tasnianian representatives, in replying,: took tho opportunity to thank all New, -Zealanders for tho splendid hospitality-which had been extended to them ■ all along the line sinco they landed. Other, speakers were: Messrs. D. Buick,.M.P., Haydon, Colonel Pringle, and Captains Palmer 'and Peach.' There was a large and representative gathering, including several ladies. A meeting of veterans is-to be held on Monday morning for. the purpose of forming a branch of the Royal New Zealand Association of. His Majesty's Veterans., The formation of a' branch of tho British Medical Association for Mana'watu and the West Coast was celebrated by a. banquet at the Mounted Rifles' Orderly-Room last night. Dr. P. Skerman, of Marton)-, president ,of tho branch, presided.
