SWIMMING.
THE WELLINGTON CENTRE. ' A meeting of tho 'Wellington Centre of the Now Zealand Amateur Swimming Association was heltl in the Y.U.C.A. Rooms lust evening, Mr. G. S. Hill presiding. ■ In the course of a letter dealing with carnival dates, the City Council granted January 11 as tho date for the Thorndon Club's carnival, and January 28 for the Swifts Club. Other dates are to be considered at tho next meeting of the Baths Committee. In the. meantime the council suggested that the centre should consider tho advisability of utilising the new lighting arrangements at To Aro Baths, and alter somo of. the .afternoon carnivals to evening ones. In referenco to the last suggestion, the opinion was expressed that there was not sufficient light at the baths for evening carnivals. The matter was allowed to stand over until next meeting. Mr. E. Stephens, treasurer of the centre, forwarded his resignation, which was accepted with regret. A vote of thanks was passed to -Mr. Stephens for his past services. The election of a new treasurer was leit over until after the holidays. The Swifts Club was granted permission to hold its carnival at To Aro Baths 011 January 28, on which dato it had previously been arranged that tho ladies' branch of the club should hold a carnival. . The Worser Bay Club was granted jitliiiation 011 condition that il eomplys with the rules of the New Zealand Association.
