The evidence showed that Medaille's wife had estranged their daughter from its father. . ( •At. Mme. Medaille. seem«d disinclined .'to give the girl up, and the artist brought a subsidiary action against his. wife on. this ground. In the Courts the girl , pleaded to be allowed to live ■with her mother on. account of . her : father's, "violent. and brutal character."
