At the propert hour the hostess gives a signal and withdraws into an apartment, accompanied b.v all the girls. Tho lasses aro ranged upon long benches. The hostess, with long strips of broadcloth, wraps up every girl. Then one by one, in an order determined by lot, the-young men-of the party-enter the room. Each in turn approaches the veiled row and examines it. The puzzled suitor feeks to penetrate the baffling folds and detect the personality of his idol. When at last lie has mado his choice, ho is privileged to remove the wraps and behold the identity of his prize: It. is the law of-ciistni" the couple shall be;ome man and wife.
