HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS.
———-' '—-—— - LONG AND VARIED LIST, ■ Quite a- number of attractions have been' arranged in connection with the Christmas holidays. ' On' Monday, at' Day's Bay, there will be a grand beauty show for ladies, 'in regard to which'-the prizes will be as ,under First prize, handsome -trophy, value 5 guineas; second prize, value two guineas. In the evening, a special display of Bickerton's fireworks - lyill be given.
At the Athletic Park on Tuesday evening, West Pictures, Ltd., are giving a display of moving pictures, which will include football, wrestling, and dramatic etudies, and humorous items. A special display of fireworks will also be given, and the Tramways Band will be'in attendance.
_On Christmas evening, at the Opera House, Mr. Lawrenco Campbell will recite Charles Dickens's "Christmas Carol."
Messrs. Pullers', of the Theatre Royal, announce a special matinee on Monday afternoon.
On Monday morning the T.S.S. Maori will make a special excursion to Picton, leaving Wellington at 7,45 o'clock.
Wonderland will be open oil Monday and Tuesday, , when all the sideshows will be free. Hot water will bo provided free. Refreshments and afternoon tea will be obtainable on the grounds.
As regards racing, the Manawatu R.C. ■ summer _ meeting begins to-day, and will bo continued on Monday and Tuesday. At Petone Recreation' Ground on Monday an< l Tuesday the usual annual fixture under the auspices of- the Hutt Vallev Trotting Club will be Ashhurst wiU bft tho 6cene of the local racing club's annual summer fixture on' Wednesday.
