IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT.
AUCKLAND GIRLS' GRAMMAR SCHOOL. (By Tclcsraph.—Press Association.) Auckland, December 22. A special meeting of the Auckland Grammar School Board was held this afternoon for the purpose of selecting a headmistress for the Girls' Grammar School as successor to Miss Whitelaw, who was recently appointed principal of Wycombe Girls'" Grammar School—a famous English scholastic institution. It was announced that 83 applicants' had been received from England and 22 from Australasia. After going carefully through tlie testimonials it was decided that Miss Blanche Butler, B.Sc., London, be appointed to the position. Miss Butler is 20 years of age. She attended courses in physics and chemistry at Bedford College, London, graduating in October, 1905, as B.Sc., London. Miss Butler has had five years' experience in teaching classes in mathematics .(pur»), chemistry, botany, and elementary physics. ..At present she is employed as viceprincipal of the Liverpool College' for girls, "one of the largest and most important girls' schools in the Old Country.
