ADDING TON STOCK SALES. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) Chrlstcluirch, December 21. Addington Live Stock Market: There were 'airly large entries of stock, .ind a good attendance. Beef met with rather a dragging tale. Store lambs and forward wethers sold well, but poor-conditioned efteep were easier.. Fat lambs sold at advanced rates under competition from tho butchers. Fat \vethers were in fairly good demand, , and fat ewes sold well up to lato rates, j All classes of pigs cold well, and store cattle met with better inquiry, while good dairy cows in request. There was a moderate entry .of store sheep. An improved demand for rape lambs was in evidence, and priccs advanced 3d. to 6d. per head. Forward wethers and young ewes sold at late rates, but backward sorts were dull of sale. Twotooth wethers made 9s. 3d. to lis.; forward 4 and 6-jooth wethers, 13s. id. to 14*. 6d.; merino wethers, Bs. Id.; 6-tootli ewes, 12s. 6d. to 12s. 3d.; 2-tooth ewes, 225. Id.; small sorts, 9s. (3d.; mixed ages, 9s. 6d. to 10s. 7d. aged ewes wit>. lambs,! 6s. 2d., to 6s.' lid.; hoggets. 10s. 3d. to lis. 4d. Tho varding of fat lambs totalled 3203, the 'bulk being mostly light corts. There was a keen demand on the part of butchers, who Eave up to 6d. per lb. at tie opening ot tno sale, as against the exporters' limit of 4;d. per lb. Prices eased off towards the . end of- the sale, when the butchcr had • filled - their requirements, ihe lambs beiug light in weight, the price per head docs not show the actual increase in values. There were 2579 taken by butchers-the largest number ever taken for the Christmas trade—but the fact that it was a double market aocounted, to some extent, . for 'the large number taken. The prices • paid by the . butchers ranged from 125.. 3d. to 17«. 2d I as against 9s. lOd. to 13e. lid. paid by the butchers for 1525 • lambs at the corresponding sale .last year.
