Lund, of the firm of W. Lund and Sons, owners of the Waratah, cross-ex-amined, said Captain Ilbery never seriously complained that the Waratah was less.stable than tho Geelong. . Counsel: Then the letters' to ■ the builders were bluff, in order to press forward a demurrage settlement. • Witness replied that they were not serious letters. He added that the gravity of the .disaster had greatly affected his father's health. ', Five passengers by the Waratah 011 tier first trip testified, that they were alarmed at the vessel's tophcaviness, and discussed the matter with the officers. Anothor passenger said he had never sailed in a . safer vessel. The inquiry has been adjourned till January 9.
