Sir. M'Villy presided at the meeting of the committee of the Wellington Boxing Assoqiation, which was held last night. J. Clarke,, formerly of Wellington, wrote -stating that .ho would like amatch with 'T. Tracy for the welter-weight championship of New Zealand, or with Gus. Tho committee regretted that it was unable to hold a benefit for Mrs. Higgins, widow of the-late-O, Higgius, but decided to inako a'donation of ten guineas. Tho committee dealt with n 'number of matters which -tho New ZealandBoxing Council is taking a mail vote. It was decided .to recommend, as regards bandages, that they-should be restricted to soft linen to be used at-the discretion of tho' referee, on the. recommendaT tion of the doctor. Members favoured costumes' for'amateurs to be- from neck, to lmeo. Upon tho matter of countingout, it was agreed that the appointment of the -official to . perform the -duties should be left to the association 1 and rofereo. The committee approved of fixing. the total maximum prize for professionills at..-850, .with-provision for any addi-. tionnl side stake. ■ It was also .resolved to allow wood-choppers to compete as amateurs.
