— ? —— . , The. ordinary meeting of the Lower Huft Borough Council was held last evening. There were present: ThejMdyor. (Mr. E. P. Bunny), and Councillors Baldwin, Macaskill,- Barlow,. : Fearce, and Hawthorn. ■ • , • The annual-subsidy of i£li> was voted to the Petone Technical School. Councillors Baldwin .and Hayes were' appointed tho council's representatives on that body. Mr. G. Lambert .asked, if the council would be" prepared to sell a triangular piece of land in Princess Street, • Alicetown, adjoining his property,' which heretofore had been used for a dumpingground, and was consequently detrimental to health.—Held over, pejiding further investigation. ...
; '-Mr. V. Eiddiford nvas granted permission to instal a septic tank to deal with his sewage, provided that there was sufficient fall on-the respective drains. The Wellington City Council 'asked if the Hutt Council at'any time had requested, that side-paths be laid down on the Hutt lioad. .Also, if the council was aware certain portions' of the road was spread with- inferior,. metal.--lie-solved to reply that ;the council, had had no representations made -to; them regarding the construction of the pathway or any-portion, of the. road; whatever. , . ■ Mr. Bowie *ompLiined that, an .icecream vendor'; took-up a..stalld| outside l his> sl,iop, and 'in ■ "consequence.'damaged "his (Mr. Bowie's) trade.—No. action was taken in' the matter.

He thought;that it was time that a better service was introduced. . At ,'tho' -last ' tramway; poll he thought! ;that, it was unwise for ratepayers to saddle themselves'with an J85,000 .loan,;.- It -was a waste of money for the Tramway Board to continue in office. ;■ All three motions were carried.
