THE CONVENT OF THE SACRED HEART, ISLAND'BAY, , The annual "breaking-up" and distribution of prizes took place at the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Island Bay, last evening in the presence .of- Archbishop Redwood, and a number of the clergy. Before the ceremony of prize-giving took place a most enjoyable musical programme was given, the first part opening with a cantata "Tho Crusaders," by N. Gade, translated from the German of Carl Anderson by J. Troutbeck. Tho performance of this work was exceedingly good, both singing and acting being quite out of the ordinary and giving plain . evidence of ' the care that ' has been'-', ex-' psnded upon the training of the performers. In the second part of the programme an extract from Schiller's ..Joan of Arc (in German) was given, also a very pretty French, song and dance, "Papillon," by the little ones. Archbishop Redwood, after a few words, then, presented, the prizes. The following* is" the prize-list:—• Decorations.—The second medallion and ribbon of merit has been given by the votes of the pupils,i ratifieo by the religious, to Mary Barnett; tho third ribbon to Ljdia Allen; next in merit, Rita 'Corry, First green ribbon to Cecil Bald-, win, second ribbon to Flora Pascal, third ribbon to Pearl Vavasour, fourth ribbon to Eileen Anderson; 'fifth ribbon to Mary Higgins; next in merit, Geftriido Peters, Agnes Duncan, and Eileen M'Kittrick.
