The situation in connection with the drivers' strike is becoming acute, and many largo businesses are seriously affected. The Electric Supply Company's coal supply is running short, and the cit.y will be left .in darkness unless a- settlement is soon reached. Shipping is also greatly impeded. The men's pickets are very active, and in somo cases removed the horses from drays. It is understood that, negotiations for a conference are proceeding.
