APPLICATIONS FOR PLACES. 'Applications from young men to fill tho ten places allotted to tho Dominion for cadet's at . the newly-established "Military College," Australia, are now called for.' Such applications are to be made to the Officers Commanding the military districts o£ Auckland, Welling-' ion, Canterbury, Nelson, and Otago, uu or before January 15 next.Competitive examinations will ba held during the later part of January to enable the best ten to" be selected, and ■ thesb will proceed to join tho college in time for opening, day in March next, details and conditions are being > printed, and will be issued to ■district commanders iu the course of tho week for the guidance of applicants and the information of parents and guardians. ' These ten eadetships aro to be free, but to be eligiblo a candidate's sixteenth birthday must : fall on or before March .4, 1911, and his nineteenth birthday alter that date. Ho must be in' good aeatti, and free from any. physical defect likely to interfere with his military duties, A candidate of fifteen years of ago last birthday must stand from fiOin. • t'o 68in. in height, without shoes (upwards), weigh' from 10G to 1141b., and have a chest measurement of from 3l' to 33in, with expansion of 1 to 2in. At sixteen, the measurements should bo: GQin.-to 72in (height); 103 to 1281b. (weight); and 32in. to 35iil. (chest, with 1J to 2Jin. expansion). At seventeen, G2in. to 72in. (height); 110 to 1301b. (weight); and 33in. to 35in. (chest, with llin. to 2Vin. expansion). At eighteen: G2in. to 72in. (height); 111 to 1361b. (weight); 34! in. to'3Gin. (chest, with expansion 2in. to 2Jin.). At nineteen: G2in. to 72in. (height); 113 to 145 lb. (weight); and 35in. to 3GHn. (chest, with 2in. to 2Jin. expansion).
