OTAKI AND LEVIN. - The Otaki lawn tennis players played their final match of the season on Saturday afternoon last against Levin. Tiio Levin men arrived'late,', and rain coming on, play had to bo discontinued before the event was finished. Otaki'was without the services of Kirk, Wi M. and E. P. Siiucox; and Rev.. Mr. Rands, while Levin was strongly represented.'.ieu play ceased Levin was leading by- 'five' sets to three, while there were two unfinished sets, in both of which Levin had a slight lead. Despite the rain, the- match was an enjoyable one, and the ladies provided a splendid afternoon tea.: Following'are the scores, Levin players being mentioned first:— Singles: Winchester v. S. ROWING.

STAR. CLUB'S LADIES' FOURS. As the'water was fairly good over the southerly course on Saturday afternoon, it was decided not to let tho rain interfere with the Ladies' Fours set down to be rowed under the auspices of the Star Boating Club that afternoon. There was 1-a bit of a jobblo on the outer edge of the course, but close in there was compara-tively-smooth water. Tho following were the results of the races:— First. Heat— C. E. Holmes (stroke), Ake.rs (3), Haughton (2), Hurley ■■■(bow'), 1 defeated- F: Turnbull (str.), Craig (3), C. G. Robinson (2),' Kirker (bow), and P. R. Pye-Smith (str.), Wardrop (3), S. Rapley (2), and C. W. Maclc (bow). Won by three-fourths of a .length. Tho race was just finishing on a previous occasion when Turnbull's boat fouled with Holmes's, through bad coxswaiuship, and the heat had to' ha re-rowed, with .the above result. ' — ' Second Heat.-T. Bedford (str.), A. M. . Hall (3), C. C. Butt (2), Cedcrholm (bow) . were victorious over 11. Lawson (str.), E. ' Johnson (3), W. Robertson (2), P. M'Master ' (bow), and F. Abercrorabio (str.), M'Whae (S),-,Devine (2), and D. ..J:'. M'Lean (bow). Won easily. About.two lengths separated the. second ; 'and the third boat. Third Heat—W. IJ. Brewer (str.), Dean (3), M'Whae (2), and Nathan (bow) won by nearly two lengths from N. J. M'Kay (str.), E. Armit (3),' Hackworth (2), D. L. M'Kay (bow), and by four lengths from F. Alexander (stiO, T. H. M'Lean (3), Eobieson (2), and Hulbert (bow). . Final.—W. 11. Brewer's crew were victorious over Holmes's and Bedford's crews, by a short length. COLLEGE CONTESTS.

WELLINGTON AND WANGANUI. I IBy Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.! - Wanganui, December 12. . The annual boat race between crews representing Wanganui arid Wellington Colleges over a course of one mile was rowed this evening. . A strong wind was blowing, and the river in consequence was , rather choppy. Wanganui went ahead from a good start, and though Wellington pulled a game race all through, they were unable -to make any impression on their opponents, who. gradually increased their lead and finally won by about three and 'a half lengths. The Wellington and Wanganui Colleges began their annual cricket match. today. Wellington's first ■ innings -roduced 12G, the best scorers being Charles, 40, Jameson 28, and Beard 23. Wanganui responded with 133 (Abraham 3G, Faber 22, Andrcao 23).. Wellington, in their second innings, made 218, while Wanganui have lost one wicket for one run. The match will be continued to-morrow.
