The din?hy was launched, and Miss Wilson and I- and two natives got into it. To our dismay the dinghy was soon filled with the breakers, and we were without- oars. Wβ could not return to the cutter, and to thought it advisable to ■ drop a small anchor that .we chanced to. have' ' Wβ stayed all-night in the dinghy full of water. Those on board thought we were lost—we.could hear .them:call, but they could not hear us. Those aboard lit flares' to try and attract assistance. At 7 o'clocknext morning'we were all able to land at Vatulele. Mr. Hill, our electrician, burned. his leg badly with benzine while lighting torches. Wo were:all scantily clad, and all our clothes- were lost. I unfortunately lost all my money from the dinghy, and.our plant is practically ruined..; .1 estimate I have lost ,£3SO. I am very sorry for all concerned, as we are completely stranded. Fortunately, we have our return tickets."
