The Te Aro Sailing Club's season was formally opened on Saturday afternoon at the Clyde Quay Wharf by .his Worship the Mayor, Mr. T. M. Wilford. A fair number of people wetc present, among them being the president of the club (Mr. " G. Winder) and the vice-president (Mr. J Ward). The opening took the form of a • race round the club's new course. The Mayor each beat off by firing the ; gun. The following is the result of the race:—lvaitere (scr.), 1; Nan (scr.), ; 2; ' Lotus (fimin.), 3. The Rival carried away her rudder and was unable, to finish. Th's race was for a trophy presented by Mr. Fred Ccoke. . LAUNCH RACE, s A launch race was got off on Saturday , afternoon under the auspices of the Port . Nicholson Motor Boat Club. The race was over the club's .Kaiwarra course, and was for the ;cliaiupionship cun.
