HATAITAI CLUB. Tho directors and members of tho Hataitai Club aro to be congratulated upon tho sucess of thoir opening- gathering. Thero was all attendance of over two hundred and fifty. In his opening speech tho president (Mr. J. W. Kinniburgh) expressed the pleasure the club felt in welcoming such a largo' number of . ladies and gontlemen. On tho day that tho tail of Halley's comet enveloped the earth tho seed was put in and tho climatic conditions which followed that event- were so exceptionally favourable that thero had been_ no fali-ing-off or going back in the growth. Tho club ■ had adopted tho comet as its -badge. He conveyed tho hearty thanks of tho club to tho bowling brotherhood of tho city for help and assistanco during tho year, and also to tho ladies and gentlemen who, bv thei'- donations of money and material, had saved considerablo expenso to tho club.
