THE EXCURSION BUNGLE. . (From Our Special Correspondent.) Masterton, November 30. A party of Carterton farmers passed through Masterton to-day. for the Levin State Farm, whence they have gone to gather information as to farming methods adopted by the Government. The question of the • responsibility for the recent contfetempts in connection with the school excursion to Wellington is still being actively discussed. It is somewhat significant that the Wellington Education Board passed a resolution on Tuesday, tendering its regret to. his Excellency the Governor for any apparent discourtesy. It is stated that the local secretary of the Navy League has received a communication from the Railway Department to. the effect that a demand for the payment of full fares is to be made upon those adults who went to Wellington and did not take part in the Navy League functions. Word has been received that Mr. Peter Bowling, the liberated Australian striker, will arrive in Masterton on Monday and deliver an address in the Town Hall in the evening. , The half-yearly meeting of the Stonehengo Lodge of Druids was held last evening, when it was decided to support the nomination of Brother Hudson," of Myrtle Lodge, Eketahuna, for the ofiice of D.P. Several members intimated their intention of being present at a smoke "social" to be held in connection with the Greytown. Lodge. Officers .were nominated for the ensuing: term, and Bros. Webb, Lcvien; Gourlay, Shackloton, and J; Swauson were elected a hall management Committee. Seasonable weather is again boing experienced, and 'hay-making operations have commenced .in various parts.
