STEAMER'S DERRICK FALLS.
With about ono ■ second to spare . a deck hand on the Aiapawa escaped certain, death from under a falling derrick, and got off with a splinter wound and bruises. On Saturday a motor-car Was being shipped aboard tho vessel, and Charles Geigo was engaged in slinging bho case, when tho mast-hond shackle carried away, and the derrick foil on tho big ton-and-a-half packing' caso, snapping in twain liko a pieco of matchwood. Geige a second before had becu on top of the packing case, and had most fortunately slid off just as tho shackle snapped. Tho injured man was attended to by Dr. Henry, and taken to the Hospital, where, upon inquiry last night, it was found that it was probablo that Geigo would be UP I and about again, in a few. day s<
