I LEADER OF THE VICTORIAN BAR. ——— ! By Telegraph-Press Association-Coii'yriEht. Melbourne, November 25. The death is announced of Mr. J. L. Purves, K.C., leader of tho Victorian Bar. Deceased was born in Melbourne ,in August, 1843, and educated at tho Diocesan Grammar School (Melbourne), Brighton (England), King's College (London), Bonn, Berlin, Brussels, and Trinity College (Cambridge). He entered at Lincoln's Inn in 1861, and was called to tho Bar in. 1865. Returning to Victoria, ho rose to a foremost place in. his profession. From 1872 to 1880 he was a member of the Legislative Assembly. .VICTORIAN EX-MINISTER. Mclbourno, November 25. Mr. J. H. Graves, ox-Chairman of Committees of tho Legislative. Assembly, is dead. Mr. Graves was for many years a member of the Victorian Legislature. He was born in Ireland in 1827, and was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. He arrived in Victoria in 1864, and engaged in pastoral, and, later, in commercial, pursuits. He was in the O'Loghlen Ministry from ISBI to 1883.
