YACHTING.
[Br Mainsiieet.] Saturday, November 2G.—Opening .Port Nicholson Motor Boat Club. Ths Boat Harbour. ' ■ • The Boat Harbour is in need of-a landing stage, for the convenience and personal safety of yachtsmen and. launchowners, i'he present condition's which prevail at tho Boat Harbour, as regards stepping in nnd out of dinghies which come alongside the sloping concrete, are that visitors very often have an unexpected wetting. All along the concrete, at the water's edge, thero is a thick, green, slimy growth, which is dangerous. Ladies especially fairly dread stepping into dinghies, '• on account of this. A larling stage, suitable for requirements, coii'.d be erected at a very small cost. A sn.'.iU stage, 'about 3ft. wide by about 10ft. long, could be run out .from the level of the Boat Harbour, and terminate in a small flight of steps. "Mainsheet" thinks that if the Harbour Board could see their way clear to erect about three of these stages they would be much appreciated. v ■■ The existing risk to , life and limb would certainly bo. at an end. . Waterside Whispers. '..- \ The Port Nicholson- Motor Boat Club will open its season this afternoon. The opening will tako the form of a. picnic, to be held at Scorching Bay.
