: THE WELLINGTON'ASSOCIATION.' . A meeting 'of tho Wellington Hockey Association was held yesterday, Mr. W. J. Organ, presiding. A letter was received from tho Now Zealand Hockey 'Association, stating it was intended to invite an. Australian . hockey team to visit New; Zealand in July, 1911, and, iii addition to provincial it waa under consideration , to arrange ono or two-fixtures with a, team representing tho whole of the Dominion. Hie let;er also asked tho 'Wellington Association- to provide a guaranty of a £25 galo for a match on a Saturday,.as well as'to billet tho visitors while in town. On-tho motion of Mr.. Organ, it was resolved to write the New Zealand Association to tho effect that they would adhero to. the terms mentioned in a former communication, which wore, to contribute'£2o or.billet sixteen men for threo days. A challcngo for- tho championship shield for 1911 was received from tho Manawatu ' Hockey Club'; The. Pet-ono Club wrote, protesting against the win of the Pakoha team over Petone, which decided tho championship. The-. protest was based upon the fact that the first spell of the match in question w as played in short time. Mr.. Bennett moved, that tho matter bo. referred to the Wednesday Hockey Association for consideration.— Carried. Owing to the absence of a quorum, further business was deferred to a future meeting.
