Tho election of officers will take plnco next lodge night, when they will also bo installed. •There, was a largo attendance at the' Palmerston- Bowling Green yesterday afternoon, and a number of club games were played. In tho rink contests, F. Mowlem's ring (28) beat C. Pyko's (25); C. Pickering (25) beat M. Hodgins (21)'; and F. J. Tasker (25) beat T. Grigg (20). In tho championship singles games, J. A. Nash (20) beat G. Tavendale (9). A concert party organised by -Mr. N. Palmer, and comprising Misses Pycroft, Brown, and Bett, and Messrs'. Palmer, Jeffries, Smith, Oliver, Palliser, Eel- ■ lowes, Lyall, Kitchen, and Haiile.v, visits ed Jackcytown last nighty and gave an entertainment in aid of the hall fund. There • was a good attendance, and the , concert proved a most enjoyable one. Mr. Alex. Matheson presided. ' A local amateur horticulturist," Mr! F. Jfason, of Whakaronga,', was'particularly • successful with an. exhibit of roses at tho Hawke's Bay flower show. He: secured eight first prizes, and also won tho rose bowl—a great feat. The Bunnythorpo .Tennis Club's courts were opened yesterday afternoon by Mr. J. A. Nash, Mayor' of Palmerston. The afternoon, was beautiful,; and tliero were large numbers of players and visitors present. Afternoon tea, provided by the lady members, was greatly appreciated.
