A PARLIAMENTARY 7 "SIDELIGHT.
The time was after two o'colck yesterday morning. Tho Houso liacl had a long night in Committee on Bills, and a batch had been reported to the Speaker, who had gone through tho recurrent formula to tho accompaniment of which Bills are read a third "time and passed. The last of the batch had been .passed, and members were grasping their hats, expecting, the Prime Minister to riss and utter tho momentous words, "I move that the House do now adjourn." But no .word carno from - Sir Joseph "Ward, -who ivas stretched on. his bench. The members behind the Prime Minister did not quite realise the profundity of the slumber into which he had fallen, but Mr. Massey, who sits opposite, did, and laughingly moved tho adjournment. "Does the Premier move the adjournment?" queried the Speaker. There was no response, and the House laughed. Then Sir . Joseph "\Vard started up, and in a sleepy tone uttered the words;that sent a tired. House, to bed.
