A Weddirig. A pretty wedding was celebrated in St. James's Presbyterian Church, Newtown, on Wednesday, November 9, when Miss' Alice Goodall, of Greymouth, was mar;ried to Mr. David John Jamieson, of Oamaru. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty white silk dress, trimmed with lace and pearls, and the customary veil and . orange blossoms, and carried a lovely shower bouquet of cream roses and fern leaves. She ivas attended by. three bridesmaids, tho chief of whom, Miss Elsie Little, wore a cream silk,frock and heliotrope and.white hat, ; and carried a' bounuet of heliotropo clematis. Tho two small bridesmaids, Miss. Aileen O'Brien.and Miss , Lenore. 'M'Gfegor (nieces of- the bridegroom)' wore cream silk frocks threaded with heliotrope ribbon, and carried baskets of cream roses. Master Archer M'Grcgor acted as page boy, and carried a crook. Mr. Thomas Goodall, of Greymouth, acted as best man. The bride's present was a handsome watch and chain, and the bridesmaids received gold brooches. The bride's mother woro a black costume and a black hatj with white ostrich plumes. The reception given by the bride's parents was-held in the New Century. Hall, .whore about, one hundred and fifty guests' were entertained. Y.M.C.A. Anniversary.
At the concert which is being given in the Town Hall this evening to celebrate the anniversary of the Y.W.C.A., his Excellency Lord Islington has consented to "preside';' and' Lady Islington will kindly present -the -prizes gained in tho recent flower and cake competition. Besides an admirable concert programme, in which a feature will be the choruses, nrranged by Mr.. Parker, Dr. Finulny. will speak about the work done.by the association. The members. of the: association are not making any appeal to the public for assistance in getting the hostel which is so needed till. March in next year.
. Their, Excellencies, Lord nnd Lady Islington, have consented to be present at tho entertainment to be given in the Town Hall by the ; Navy League, for the visiting squadron.
