MOTOR CAR OWNERS.

DECIDE TO BUILD A BRIDGE. A mooting of motor-car owners was held at tho office of Messrs. Izard and Weston last night. Some twenty owners wero present, and Sir,. C. H.-Izard was voted to the chair. Tho meeting was called to consider tho advisability of ■ building a bridge over a deep creek' just at tho other sido of the Eimutaka Range, closo to FeatUerston. It was Toported that permission would bo given to build tho bridgo on private property adjacent to the road, and plans were submitted of a bridge.that would cost ,£IOO. The meeting then decided that a committed be formed representing Wellington and tho Wairarapa, to proceed at once with the construction of a bridge in .accordance with tho plan submitted, and to malio the necessary financial arrangements. Tho committee is to consist of seven members from Wellington (two of whom representing- motor cyclists), with power to add tho names of four owners of motor-cars and cycles in South Wairarapa, and three in North Wairarapa. Owners of cars will subscribe £1, and owners of motor cycles ss. each, subscriptions to bo paid to tho chairman of tho committee or tho secretary. Any moneys remaining over after payment of tho constnrction of tho bridgo will be utilised by tho committee for the upkeep of the bridge. It was resolved that meetings of car owners bo arranged in North and South Wairarapa at early dates, and that tho Wellington Motor Cycle Club bo notified of the meeting's decision and asked to nominafo two members for tho committee. Tho following wero elected to the committee last night :—Messrs. C. H. Izard (chairman), ,T. Barton, Wm. Crichton, p, 'Townsond, T. Inglis, and C. it. Banks (hon. secretary and treasurer). Tho meeting adjourned until December IC, by wnich time tie bridge should - be completed.
