Mr. J. A.Macnulny, of San Francisco, has left Wellington on a visit to .the thermal district of the north. Mr. H: S.' Reed, of Exeter, England, is a visitor to New Zealand. Mr. Sidney East, of Wellington,' has left on a visit to England. His business is in connection with a patent waterproofing solution, the merits of which havo been well spoken of here. Mrs. liast will reside in Gisborne during her husband's absence abroad. Mr. Henry Burling, the centenarian.of Waikanae, has been Buffering from, bronchitis, but is now well on the way.to complete recovery. Mr. Douglas Lysnar, Mayor of Gisborne, who went Homo to float a municipal loan, is due to arrive in Wellington on .December 7. Mr. Kobert Stoat has, in addition to degrees formerly granted, obtained tho degrees of B.M. and B.S. from tho London University. Mr. Celiu A. M/Donald (son of the late Mr. Aloysius , M'Donald), of the local staff of the Bank' of New South Wales, has been advised of his transfer to Australia. Mr. M'Donaia, who is very popular, will be missed, in swimming circles, i'or years he was secretary of tho Thorndon Club, and is still a member of the committee and its ' delegate to the centre. Lient.-Colonel E. S.. Heard, Director of Military Training and Education, and Lieut.-Colonel J. T. Burnett-Stuart, D.5.0., Director of Military Operations and Intelligence, will reach Sydney on Thursday next,' en route to New Zealand.

Onr Masterton corresnondent states that Mr. V. W. Winter, of" the local staff of Dalgety and Co., who has been transferred to Hamilton, was, yesterday afternoon, presented by the start of tho firm with an enlarged photograph and travelling bag.
