(By Telegraph,—Suecial Correeuondcnt.) v Palmarstcn,': November 18. A largo; audience ; assembled at tho Opera House last night, when the Palmerston Liedertafel - gavo - its sixth concert. The programme' was well arranged arid varied,: and the manner in which the various numbers were rendered was creditable, both to members and to their conductor; Mr. F. W: , A. Mason.' 'So pleased was the'. audience with-several of - tM items that they had to be repeated. Solo vocal numbers were given'by Messrs. Keeblo and'F; G. Couper. Tho latter is recently from Wellington, and .was a well-known member of- the City Savage Club. Both vocalists bad a' very fine recopt-ion. The Liedertafel also had tho 'assistance' of Mr. Herbert Bloy, a Wellington violinist, who had to respond to double encores. Under the baton of Sir. Mason, the Liedertafel has mado continuous and substantial progress, but not a little of the success of the society is undoubtedly due. to tho good work of the hon. - secretary, Mr. R. A. Fuller. : Palmerston visitors to tho Wanganui show speak highly of the' manner in wliieli it was carried out. Thor©-wore a faic number of Manawatu exhibitors, who; were also pleased .with -.the show.. ' It will be remembered that during show week here a woman named Mrs. Maude Lunan was found in a stablo in an unconscious state, with her skull fractured. She has been lying, in tho hospital since that time, but it has now been found necessary ,to commit her to the Porirua Mental Asylum.
