Much disappointment; is felt by I settlers iu tne Waiigamii • district, because of .inadequate*provision in .the ' Estimates for. stock roads, in that part | of "the island.' There .is a. heavy loss of stock in tho-district every year , through the absence of reasonably, good roads. It was hoped' that ample, pro- ' vision would be mado for improving the "Wanganui River Road and the Missing 1 Link Road. Respecting stock losses, which aro mentioned above,, here is aji A man living on one side or the riven at Ahuahu, bought a mob of sheep at a place about twenty miles away across the river. ' There was no direct connection,, and he had to take the stock home by such a roiindabout routo that tho trip occupied ten days, and he lost 20 per cent, of-'his sheep on the way, and most of. his losses occurred through tho sheep falling down hills, tumbling over cliffs, and getting bogged.
