; GIFT OF AUTOGRAPH LETTERS. -■■ ' i (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Auckland, November 18 ; . A number of autograph letters which havo been presontcd to the Auckland Freo Library by Mr. P.' A.'Philips, of Sydney,. a former town clcrk of Auckland, wore handed to the City Council last evening by Mm C. J. Parr, who received them fromi Mr. Philips oil the occasion of his reccnt visit to Sydney. The collection' includes autograph letters and memoranda from' the late Sir George Grey, Sir Julius Vogel, Bishops Cowio and Lenihan, Mr. Justice Gillies, the Right Hon. R. J. Seddon, tho 'Earl of Glasgow, tho Coulitess of Onslow, and various other distinguished personages, including various admirals and other visitors to Auckland at various times.
