FOXTON TOWN HALL BURNT.
NO FIRE APPLIANCES. ,(By Telegraph—Special Oorresnondent.) Palmerston, November 18. The Tomi Ball at Foxton was de« stroyed by .fire about one o'clock : this morning; A '.bazaar in connection with! the Church of England was held yesterday and last night, and when'the hall was locked, up everything appeared safe. The. cause of tho fire is attributed to a defective chimney. The building, which was . completely destroyed, belonged to Mr. .0. Symons, and was insured in 1 tho Alliance Office for £450. The hall., was erected about thirty, years ago by the late Mr. A. J..Whyte. All Saints' Ladies' Guild will be considerable losers by the conflagration, as there were a large quantity of unsold bazaar goods: in tho hall, and Mrs. A. E. Easton lost a large amount of valuable needlework. There was a great crowd at tho fire, but as there was no water, supply appliances nothing could be done to save' anything. r
